Intended for supervisors in police and sheriffs' agencies, this looseleaf notebook contains a collection of background readings and materials designed to supplement the presentations and workshops for a series of investigations management conferences funded by the National Institute of Justice and developed by the Police Executive Research Forum.
Abstract
The materials cover four topics: research on investigations management, the management of investigative tactics, the management of investigative caseflow, the management of investigative caseflow, and the measurement of how well investigations units are performing. The readings are intended to be a reference and to provide examples of procedures used by a variety of law enforcement agencies. Included are summaries of research studies, reprints of magazine articles, recommendations from the National Advisory Commission on Criminal Justice Standards and Goals, police departmental policy and procedure statements, and figures presenting data. An appendix presents a chapter from Standards for Law Enforcement Agencies by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.
