This Web site provides information on the Trace Evidence Symposium held on August 3–7, 2009, in Clearwater Beach, FL.
Abstract
The symposium was co-sponsored by the Office of Justice Programs’ National Institute of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The purpose of the symposium was to bring together practitioners and researchers, both national and international, to enhance information-sharing and promote collaboration among those disciplines that use trace evidence. Topics covered during the symposium included Paint Database Query (PDQ), Standardized Test Methods and Insuring Quality in the Trace Laboratory, Master Workshop: Feather Identification, Polymer Chemistry for the Trace Chemist, Infrared Spectral Interpretation, Forensic Pathology, the Applications of Raman Spectroscopy in Trace Evidence, the Use of Multivariate Statistics in Trace Evidence Investigations, Tape Analysis, Advanced Trace Elemental Analysis, Automotive and Architectural Pigment Examination, Significance in Report Writing, and New Developments in Manufacturing Materials.
