Abstract
This issue of the Technology Beat newsletter presents information on the National Institute of Justice’s (NIJ’s) National Law Enforcement Technology Center (NLETC). The mission of the NLETC is to help “facilitate the identification, development, manufacture, and adoption of new products and technologies specifically designed for law enforcement and criminal justice applications.” The NLETC was previously known as the Technology Assessment Program Information Center. The Center, located in the Washington, DC, area, will have facilities for technology demonstrations; places for practitioners from the research and defense communities, law enforcement, and manufacturing to interact and share ideas; and areas where law enforcement personnel can share information with their colleagues. The Center plans to compile and computerize the following information: manufacturer and product identification; user product data exchange; and technical assistance.
