This report presents data from 33 ADAM (Arrestee Drug Abuse Monitoring) sites that collected data on arrestees' drug use in 2001.
Abstract
Each table is organized by site location and indicates the percentage of adult arrestees who qualified for the variable. The same series of 16 tables is presented for men in all 33 sites and for women at sites in which at least 25 women completed ADAM interviews. One table presents the ADAM sites by geographic location, number of booking facilities, and number of interviews completed in each quarter. Another table provides demographic data on ADAM interviewees, followed by a table that shows the percentage of arrestees who tested positive for the most commonly reported drugs. Five tables provide data on the frequency with which arrestees reported using selected drugs over the previous year. Two tables then report rates of arrestee heavy drinking and drug use, as well as their risk for dependence as determined by a clinically based dependency screening. Four tables present data of arrestees' drug market participation, including failed attempts to purchase drugs. The final two tables indicate the proportion of arrestees who reported receiving drug treatment and having health insurance in the previous year.
