This manual presents the survey questionnaire used for the federally supported study examining the relationships between violence and homelessness for women in four cities in the State of Florida.
Abstract
In an attempt to estimate the rate at which homeless women are victimized by violence, a study was designed and supported by the U.S. Department of Justice, National Institute of Justice (NIJ) which surveyed approximately 200 women from 4 cities in Florida; Jacksonville, Tampa, Miami, and Orlando. The manual contains the survey instrument utilized in the study to aid researchers in better understanding issues of violence and women’s homelessness, as well as inform future policy. It will assist in answering any questions beyond what has been learned in interviewer training. Interviewers will pose these questions to be answered by the female participants. Question by question interview instructions are presented along with an outline of the individual questions and problems that may arise when proceeding through the questionnaire.
