A study of intellectual property and white-collar crime focuses on issues, trends, and problems for future research; and a meta-analysis of sentencing research focuses on the relationship between race, ethnicity, and sentencing outcomes. A project that examined the characteristics and dynamics of crime-gun markets considered the implications of the findings for supply-side focused enforcement strategies. A number of projects addressed issues of domestic violence, including the impact of domestic violence on women's labor force participation, the impact of domestic violence on the employment of women on welfare, stages and processes of change and treatment outcomes in partner-assaultive men, and research and evaluation on violence against women. Four projects examined Native-American tribal strategies against violence. Other research issues addressed in the projects were the building of societal support for the rule of law in Georgia, evaluation of the use of iris recognition technology in school security, temporal variation in the likelihood of police notification by victims of rape, and rethinking minority attitudes toward the police. Other police-related research projects pertained to community policing, police-juvenile interactions, and public opinions of the police.
